Why the NBA playoffs has lost steam?

Why the NBA playoffs is not as interesting as it was a year ago.

- The first round had only one series which was worth watching. In the West - the Lakers-Jazz series was a typical a 1 seed vs. an 8 seed. The Nuggets-Hornets series consisted of four Blowout wins by the Nuggets. The Spurs-Mavs series showcased the fall of an aging team without its best scorer against a Mavs team that has far more depth than the Spurs had. The Rockets-Trailblazers was a fun one but only through few games.
- In the East - The Cavs destroyed the Pistons in four games. The Magic dismantled the 76ers after giving them a few glimples of victory. While the Hawks might have went the distance with the Heat but each games were played with blowouts which needed only a half to determine the winner. The only interesting and probably is regarded as one of the best opening series match was the Celtics-Bulls match. But only due to the injury bug that hit the Celtics and its aging legs that caused more OT's in the first round than any other series in the history of the Playoffs.
- Overall, only 2 game seven's played, No upset, No sort of a cinderella story, and the series left the much anticipated but predictable Lakers-Cavs series intact.

- The second round is plagued with controversies and injuries but still it have not proved that it is much more interesting than the first round:
- The Lakers-Rockets series currently seems like a battle of well-matched teams. The series has been tied 2-2 a while ago by a blowout win by Rockets. The Rockets may have proved a point that they can win without their best players but seriously, how long can they keep Kobe quiet? Look out for game five to be Kobe's vengeance game and look for him to close it on game six. The lack of depth is also crucial for the Rockets and in the end, it will cause them to falter because of the lack of size they have. The only possible way they can win is to smother Kobe (which can't happen for 2 or 3 games) and have career nights with their small players (brooks had 36 points and Battier hit 5 3-pointers in a win in game 4).
- The Nuggets-Mavs serious should have been interesting if only the officials called the right call down the stretch. The obvious mistake by the refs might have caused the Mavs their series and gave the Nuggets a lot of prep time for their west finals matchup with the Lakers.
- In the east the Cavs-Hawks series will again be a showcase of the newly crowned MVP as to how to sweep a team in four games.
- The Celtics-Magic series again posed to be the best series in the second round and I can't really tell how much a distance the Celts will go, but I look to the Magic to take the series with the help of the bigs and of the lack of interior presence by the defending Champs.

- Again, the Lakers will meet the Cavs in what is called the most predictable playoffs and I will surely look out for the finals because this might be the only interesting matchup (other than the celtics series) in the playoffs.
