I'm finally back after a long break. I wasn't able to blog recently because of my busy schedule last week. What I want to blog about today is the important things that happened in the 4th of July. Of course, it is all about sports.
First off, the Williams' sister met in the finals in the Wimbledon singles finale. It was a win-win situation for both of them because no matter how ugly or how exciting the game turn out to be, a Williams will be 1st and another one will be 2nd. Thus, the result was not that important but the fact that two Americans faced off in the 4th of July in the women's Wimbledon final was amazing. What is more amazing was that both of them again went on to win the doubles title after a quick shower and a feast with their family. The men's finals probably is something not worth talking about for the Americans since the departure of Pete Sampras. However, on the 4th of July, it was meant to be for the Americans. Another American sibling duo met the defending champion of Wimbledon and Andy Roddick, an American, is trying to stop Roger Federer to become the most winningest man in Pro-tennis history. Although the Bryan brothers has already lost but still a 2nd place in the world's most prestigious stage in tennis was a good consolation. In the most anticipated men's final, Andy Roddick is currently leading Roger Federer by 1 set to none. Although the match is yet to be finished and the result could go either way, still it is a good reward for the American who has struggled through recent years.
Moving on to football. The Americans opened their gold cup group by beating Grenada 4-0 with the first goal coming from Mr. Freddy Adu. Again, the Americans has showed their poise and vast improvement that lead to their recent rise of fame. Although their most recent triumph will be as special as their victory over Spain a couple of weeks ago mainly because it was a victory in the fourth of July.
Moving on the most important story line of this fourth of July, is the latest triumph of the great Joey Chestnut. This man is indeed my idol. Swallong 68 more hotdogs that I can eat in 10 minutes. Truly fascinating. Joey Chestnut is a definition of a 4th of July and he has proven it by breaking yet again another world record and at a same time defeating a man who once challenged a full grown bear.
Amazing, this fourth of July was simply amazing.
