UFC 100

It sucked that I wasn't able to watch UFC 100 live in TV because of the pact I had with God of going to church every sunday at 10 a.m. Thus, I was only able to know the results of the fights through yahoo sports - which is probably the best sports news report existing online. Through this site, I was able to know that GSP dominated Thiego Alves, with class, while Lesnar brutally dominated Frank Mir, without any sort of class. Same result but the difference between both champions is how they acted after the fight. GSP as we know probably is one of the most humble fighter in UFC. He knows that he is the best out there and he shows it through his masterclass moves. He worked his way on top through a series of fights that probably lands on the greatest fights list on tv. He gives respect to his opponent regardless of how they have treated him. To keep it simple, GSP is the face or the image of the UFC. This I think is significant because the UFC has changed its image from two men destroying each other in the ring to a sport of mixed martial arts that is reputable for its sportsmanship despite its brutal fights. However, Lesnar is anything that GSP is NOT. He is an freakishly large athlete with unbelievable strength and work ethic. He deserves the championship belt because time and time again he has rose to the occasion and proven everyone else that he is no longer in a "staged" show. He is for real and he could be the best fighter out there. But sad to say after his performance, he might never be the face of the UFC. I give the most credit for his work ethic and his dedication for fighting, but he does not give much of respect to his opponents who are humble champions, to the fans who are most important, and even to sponsors such as bud light! Lesnar simply reminds me of one of the strongest fighter in mixed martial arts, but that is not the definition of what makes the best UFC fighters. UFC fighters simply has class and sad to say again but Lesnar is not one of those people. GSP is one of those people. Liddle, as well. Couture, definitely. In fact, Mir deserves to be there together with a bunch of great fighters. But Lesnar? come on, the best he can be is one scary fighter but not a sporting legend or an icon. Lesnar is still young in his mixed martial arts career but in this cruel sport, all hot shots streak may come to an end. Lesnar might be the real deal as opposed to Kimbo Slice. But with his lack of appreciation for the sport, he might as well end up with the latter in the streets shooting a youtube video to get their own sponsors.
