The end of Jones Cup

The William Jones Cup saw a lot of new action, new players, and new rivalries. But one thing remained the same, the large players from Jordan and Lebanese (hard to say for Iran) dominated the competition. Through blowouts after blowouts. Team Jordan eventually came through but its really an alarming sight to see Jordan beating many of the top teams in Asia with the best players in the line up. Sure, Korea may have missed the presence of previous bigs such as Ha, but there was a lot of talent in that team especially with Kim Min Soo in the line up. The Philippine national team also consisted of the best players in their region has came up down right flat against the mighty Jordan team. Lebanon was also dominating thanks to their three best players one of which is in the NBA. But the big loser of the tournament got to be Chinese Taipei A after being blown out by 40 something (I lost count) they came right back to beat the defending Asian champions and a very skilled Korean team. They ended the tournament with only two defeats while Jordan and Lebanon finished with one. Korea finished with 3 while the rest of the teams - Philippines, Japan, Kazhakstan, Chinese Taipei B finished in the bottom of the pool. The tournament overall was exciting and exposed what the Asians were made of. But one thing resulted in this tournament, it pretty much revealed the strength of the Western Asians and they sure will repeat their same success in the Asian Championships which will be played in a few weeks from now. And till then, were stucked with watching replays in ESPN.
